Do Your Best Then Take a Rest

‘My mum always told me to pick my battles. She would question whether all the things I was trying to do were worth expending maximum energy and effort on. At first, I wanted to prove her wrong. I was working, studying and a single mum of four, and was convinced I could do it all. But when you are constantly firefighting, you don’t do anything properly and you feel like a failure. I reached a point when I realised that I was exhausted, grumpy and not fun to be around! Since then, I’ve slowed right down, I take things one at a time, try to focus and do each thing mindfully.
