“You can make yourself happy or miserable – it’s the same amount of effort.” ~ Ray bradbury

🤗 A Better Life ~ Slowing Down and Seeing

Rushing through the day we get stuff done.

What did we miss? What was pleading for us to stop, but we rushed on by?

Running, seeing and being blind at the same time.

Slow down, turn on your heart sight. You’ll see wonderful things.

Dare to go to the edge of the circle. You’ll be able to escape the circle’s thought patterns and develop fresh ideas.

🌾 Today’s Poem ~ More Strong than Time

More Strong than Time

Victor Hugo

Since I have set my lips to your full cup, my sweet,
Since I my pallid face between your hands have laid,
Since I have known your soul, and all the bloom of it,
And all the perfume rare, now buried in the shade;

Since it was given to me to hear on happy while,
The words wherein your heart spoke all its mysteries,
Since I have seen you weep, and since I have seen you smile,
Your lips upon my lips, and your eyes upon my eyes;

Since I have known above my forehead glance and gleam,
A ray, a single ray, of your star, veiled always,
Since I have felt the fall, upon my lifetime’s stream,
Of one rose petal plucked from the roses of your days;

I now am bold to say to the swift changing hours,
Pass, pass upon your way, for I grow never old,
Fleet to the dark abysm with all your fading flowers,
One rose that none may pluck, within my heart I hold.

Your flying wings may smite, but they can never spill
The cup fulfilled of love, from which my lips are wet;
My heart has far more fire than you can frost to chill,
My soul more love than you can make my soul forget

💡 Something to Think About

Do you have fears? Or, do fears have you? There’s a big difference between the two. Don’t give control to your fears. Set them out in the sunlight. Wave goodbye, and walk on.

🍎 Today’s Health Question ~ 5 Healthy Food Substitutes

1. Use applesauce instead of oil when baking. Try substituting applesauce for half the oil requested in cake and brownie recipes. You’ll cut down on calories without losing flavor or texture.

2. Eat brown rice instead of white rice. Brown rice has more fiber and nutrients than white rice. The fiber also makes it more filling.

3. Use egg whites instead of whole eggs. Swap ¼ cup of egg substitute or two egg whites for each egg in a recipe to cut calories and cholesterol.

4. Choose multigrain or whole wheat pasta instead of white pasta. Some pastas also have Omega-3 fatty acids, an added benefit.

5. Select low-fat cheese over full-fat cheese. There are many delicious reduced-fat cheeses that reduce calories and saturated fat without compromising flavor.

✒️ Writers’ Wisdom ~ Wisdom for Writers

“Close the door. Write with no one looking over your shoulder. Don’t try to figure out what other people want to hear from you; figure out what you have to say. It’s the one and only thing you have to offer.” ~ Barbara Kingsolver
