Every doctoral student I guided toward their successful writing and defense of their dissertation was willing to pay the price. They worked hard. When it seemed impossible, they kept working. When the concepts seemed to hard to grasp, they kept working for understanding. They paid the price. It’s true in athletics. The champions and the championship teams pay the price. They put the work and discipline in to achieve success. It’s the same with relationships. The partners in the best relationships pay the price by putting in the hard work to make the relationship successful.
