In Billy Joel’s song, Just the Way You Are, part of the lyrics are, “I love you just the way you are.” Those in great relationships love each other just the way they are. The love they have for each other isn’t dependent on an image of what one finds lovable, but is based on who the other person is at any moment. As they change over the course of life, they know they are loved just the way they are and they return the same kind of love to their partner.
