I’m going to make lentil soup for tonight’s dinner. In a few minutes I’ll get the slow cooker out. I’ll sauté onions, peppers, celery, and garlic. When it’s ready, I’ll add a can of crushed tomatoes, chicken broth, and dry lentil beans. I’ll add rosemary from my garden, some oregano, and a bay leaf or two. The last ingredient I’ll add will be my secret ingredient, a couple of small chunks of Parmigiano Reggiano. I’m getting hungry thinking about it. Making a good soup is like living a good life. If we put the right ingredients into how we are living, life is likely to turn out pretty good.
