Joe: “I hate when my foot falls asleep during the day.”
Pete: “Why’s that, Joe?”
Joe: “It means it will be up all night.”
“Constructing an optimistic vision of life allows one to have a full interpersonal world in spite of unfortunate circumstances … [it] reduces feelings of sadness/depression and anxiety, increases your lifespan, fosters stronger relationships with others and provides a coping skill during times of hardship. Being optimistic allows you to handle stressful situations better, which reduces the harmful health effects of stress on your body.” Source
NOTE: Instead of looking at your cup as half-full, look at it as overflowing, spilling off the table, running across the floor and out the door flooding the street where you live. Now, that is some kind of optimism and it is available to each of us. The key is within us. The more we reach out to help others and bring benefit to our world the more we are filled with an optimistic spirit. We are no longer powerless, we are empowered. What are you waiting for? The world is waiting for you.
“Appreciate the moment.”

I have gone back in boyish wonderment
To things that I had foolishly put by. . . .
Have found an alien and unknown content
In seeing how some bits of cloud-filled sky
Are framed in bracken pools; through chuckling hours
Have watched the antic frogs, or curiously
Have numbered all the unnamed, vagrant flowers,
That fleck the unkempt meadows, lavishly.
Or where a headlong toppling stream has stayed
Its racing, lulled to quiet by the song
Bursting from out the thickleaved oaken shade,
There I have lain while hours sauntered past—
I have found peacefulness somewhere at last,
Have found a quiet needed for so long.
