Before you react, think. Before you spend, earn. Before you criticize, wait. Before you quit, try.

Good Timber by Douglas Malloch

Good Timber

The tree that never had to fight
For sun and sky and air and light,
But stood out in the open plain
And always got its share of rain,
Never became a forest king
But lived and died a scrubby thing.

The man who never had to toil
To gain and farm his patch of soil,
Who never had to win his share
Of sun and sky and light and air,
Never became a manly man
But lived and died as he began.

Good timber does not grow with ease,
The stronger wind, the stronger trees,
The further sky, the greater length,
The more the storm, the more the strength.
By sun and cold, by rain and snow,
In trees and men good timbers grow.

Where thickest lies the forest growth
We find the patriarchs of both.
And they hold counsel with the stars
Whose broken branches show the scars
Of many winds and much of strife.
This is the common law of life.

It’s Between You And You

You and I have 24 hours in our day. You and I have 1440 minutes in our day. And, we have 86,400 seconds in our day. We all start from the same starting line each day. Where we finish is influenced by the effort we put into each of those seconds. Get Inspired with the 2 minute YouTube video by Hall of Fame football player Ray Lewis’s motivational talk on effort.

Unleashing Our Potential

Hard work, concentrated effort, and a willingness to learn are three cornerstones to achieving our goals. When we apply them consistently we unleash our potential and open doors to what we may have once believed were locked. Go ahead, commit to hard work, concentrated effort and increase your learning curve. It will pay off in the end. The following 2 minute YouTube video will inspire you to apply all three principles over and again.

Making Dreams Come True

Incorporating these three P’s into our lives will transform dreams into reality: Patience, Persistence, and Perseverance. If we apply these three P’s to our relationships imagine the cumulative effect. If we apply these three P’s to the pursuit of our dreams, we just might catch them. No Days Off – Give It All You’ve Got

We all want to succeed. We all want to achieve our potential. It takes effort. It takes commitment. It takes a deep personal belief that deep inside a voice says, “yes, you can do this.” Of course we can. If we commit to the hard work. If we commit to the effort. If we commit to rising above the stumbles. Commit to giving it everything you’ve got. Don’t hold back. As they say in the video, “No Days Off.”
