Listening to music taps into your brain’s imagination and sense of self-identity, boosts your self-esteem, and lessens feelings of isolation. Listening to music feels empowering. Put on your favorite album – or that one you keep meaning to dive into, turn up the volume, and cut out all other distractions so that you can really experience the wonders of the music. In some cases, music has been shown to help people coping with dementia, giving them a greater sense of empowerment. Music therapy is also useful in people suffering from anxiety and depression.
Unplugging for even a small amount of time can be beneficial to your well-being. The next time you find yourself with nothing to do, step away from your phone for a few hours. Instead, try going for a walk and connecting with your thoughts. Step away from your phone either for a few hours or even take the entire day off of devices. Instead, try getting outside and connecting with nature, or meeting up with friends IRL. Remember: Even a short break from your phone can help you unwind and focus on what brings you joy.
There’s a temptation to get down and discouraged when I read the news about Covid – 19. Getting discouraged is not where I want to be. Hope is my food, and positive expectations are my drink. What to do? My gym’s manager’s teenagers stepped up and are making a positive difference. Check out the Covid – 19 Life Hack below.
Here’s Today’s Covid – 19 life hack: My gym manager’s teens placed positive messages on water bottles. The water bottles were placed on a table in my gym. I picked one up on my way home. Here’s a photo of me with my bottle (Photo taken at home. I had to ditch the sweat stained shirt – LOL). The teens provided water and a great message. Boom, my hope and positive expectations climbed three notches.

Every morning before you go on with your daily routine, take a couple of minutes to give yourself a compliment. Whether you compliment your outfit, haircut, or how you recently completed a task using your unique skill sets, giving yourself a little emotional boost will make you happy. And, when you’re happy with yourself, that emotion can be contagious to those around you. Inspirational speaker Tony Robbins has a mantra he says aloud to himself most days to put him in a peak performance state.
I ran out of Lysol wipes the other day. I like to keep a pack in the car. I used them for the touch pad at the gas station, opening the door to my gym, and, depending on my shopping venue, I take one to wipe down the cart handle. What to do? Check out the Covid – 19 Life Hack below.
Here’s Today’s Covid – 19 life hack:
I take a paper towel (I use select a size). I lay it flat on the counter top. I spray it with my 99.9% virus killer spray. I fold it and place it a zip lock plastic baggie. Boom, I’ve got my wipe for the gym door, touch pad at the gas station, or the store cart.

Be kind to everyone you meet. No matter how they treat you, you can always be polite, smile, and offer help. . . . Once you start offering kindness, you’ll be surprised by how quickly it is returned to you. Not only will you improve someone else’s day, but you’ll find that you feel better in return. Make it a goal to say one kind thing to someone each day. This could include sending a nice text to your mom, complimenting a friend’s outfit, or telling a joke to the cashier to make him laugh. Whatever it is, just keep it kind.
I wear a cloth face mask when I am not able to social distance or going to a public place like a supermarket, gym, etc. I was thinking, what if I add an additional layer of protection to my face mask? Check out the Covid – 19 Life Hack below.
Here’s A Covid – 19 life hack:
IÂ take a paper towel (I use select a size). I fold the paper towel until it fits inside my cloth face mask. I now have (counting paper towel folds) three layers of cloth and four layers of paper towel. Â Boom, added protection when I can’t social distance.Â

We worry about tomorrow, fearing something bad might happen. We try to predict it, we prepare for everything, and we try to plan our days. However, most things in life just happen, and the only thing we can do is enjoy it to the fullest and make the best of it.
Life is full of surprises, and that’s a good thing. By expecting the worst to happen, you complicate life and make it hard. So let go of all those worries and the need to control and predict everything.
Focus on what you are gaining. When one door closes another door opens. Whether it be the end of a relationship, job, or the unfortunate passing of someone close to you, there is always another door that opens. Focus on the opportunities that you have.
