NOTE: Don’t let the naysayers, cynics, and doomsday preachers shake your optimism and belief that tomorrow will be better than today. Smile, dance, sing, love, and give it your all as if what you are doing is the most important thing in the world. It is!
Singing along to songs has a deeply soothing effect on me, but maybe doing a little dancing and movement is more your thing. It might feel a bit cheesy at first, but there is research to suggest that both dancing and singing can boost your mood and reduce stress, even if just for a bit. If you’ve been banking on the euphoria you feel after sing- and dance-alongs to Homecoming every week, you probably don’t need us to tell you that. But if you haven’t tried it out and you’re remotely into music, it might be worth a shot.
Tip – It really works. Let go at home, Feel the beat of the music and dance around the kitchen or living room. You’ll feel better.
“Believe that life is worth living and your belief will help create the fact (William James).”
Why not choose to sing and dance and love? Each day is a day to celebrate the gift of life. It’s nothing we’re entitled to. It’s a gift. And, each day is a renewal of this wonderful gift. Fill the day with gratitude for life, those who love you. those you love. And, sing and dance and enjoy the ride.
I Shall Keep Singing
I shall keep singing!
I shall keep singing!
Birds will pass me
On their way to Yellower Climes —
Each — with a Robin’s expectation —
I — with my Redbreast —
And my Rhymes —
Late — when I take my place in summer —
But — I shall bring a fuller tune —
Vespers — are sweeter than Matins — Signor —
Morning — only the seed of Noon —
“Treasure this day and Treasure yourself, truly, neither will ever happen again (Ray Bradbury).” Each day is special. It’s the only day we have. Why not celebrate each moment? This is the only life we have on planet Earth. Enjoy the miracle of you. Enjoy the miracle of the day given to you. Dance, sing, laugh, and give it your all each moment. You will be creating a life well lived.
What if I didn’t let the news stick in my brain today? There’s infinitely more good news than there is bad news. Good news doesn’t sell. Bad news grabs our attention. It pokes at our instincts to survive. Reports of crime far out weigh the reports of kind acts. Yet, I’d speculate kind acts far exceed criminal acts. If I don’t allow myself to get hooked into the bad news, I’ve an opportunity to smile more, laugh, and spontaneously break out into song for no reason other than to sing.
Good morning, Sunshine. C’mon, show me your smile. That’s it, make your smile grow from ear to ear. Put some upbeat music on, the kind that makes you want to dance and sign along. Go ahead and spread your arms out wide and give a hearty, heart-felt thank you for this day. You are going to light it and nothing, no nothing can stop you.
“To be joyous is to be a madman in a world of sad ghosts.”
